Meet Björn
I am a registered nurse, health scientist, and health economist with 25+ years in HEOR and 30+ years in healthcare, supporting innovators across pharma, medtech, diagnostics, digital health, and medical nutrition.
My work combines clinical insight, scientific rigor, and senior strategic judgement — connecting value questions with the evidence and analysis needed to support meaningful decisions.
Clients work with me when they need clarity, analytical depth, and direct senior involvement from the initial question through analysis, interpretation, and decision.

What I Bring to the Work
AHEAD’s work draws on three complementary perspectives that inform how I approach strategic, methodological, and analytical questions.
Clinical Insight
A registered nurse by training, I bring a grounded understanding of real-world care pathways, patient needs, and clinical workflows. This helps ensure that value questions, modeling, evidence, and communication reflect how technologies are actually used in practice.
Scientific Rigor
With a PhD focused on methodological robustness, extensive health economic modeling experience, and a strong publication record, I place transparency, reproducibility, and clarity at the center of analytical work. Methods and models should be defensible, clinically meaningful, and fit for the decision they are intended to inform.
Senior Strategic Judgement
Evidence and analysis are most useful when they address the questions that actually matter for development, value, adoption, and access. My role is to connect the clinical, economic, evidence, and stakeholder perspectives, challenge important assumptions, and determine what analysis or action should follow.
Together, these perspectives shape how I work across projects — from early value questions through quantitative analysis, interpretation, and decision support.
My Professional Journey
My career began in clinical care as a registered nurse, where I developed a practical understanding of patient pathways, real-world decision-making, and the everyday constraints of healthcare delivery.
Driven by a growing interest in how healthcare systems function and how decisions shape outcomes, I continued my education in Applied Health Sciences, followed by a master’s degree in Health Economics & Pharmacoeconomics — integrating clinical experience with analytical and strategic thinking.
In 2023, I completed my PhD at Maastricht University, focusing on the systematic evaluation, replication, and validation of structural health economic modeling approaches in obesity. This work reinforced my commitment to methodological transparency, robustness, and clarity — principles that continue to shape my analytical and strategic work.
With 25+ years in HEOR and 30+ years in healthcare, I have supported innovators across pharma, medtech, diagnostics, digital health, and medical nutrition, helping them clarify value, generate and interpret evidence, and support important development, access, and adoption decisions.
I founded AHEAD in 2012 based on a simple principle: meaningful decision support requires senior involvement, interdisciplinary thinking, methodological rigor, and continuity of judgement.
